Job Description The Tufts Office of Sustainability is looking for an undergraduate student to manage the delivery, processing, and drop-off of all our specialty recycling items. Specialty recycling items include: small electronics, clothing, shoes, tennis balls, etc. The Specialty Recycling Intern should have a very active personality and be willing to walk around campus to collect materials and ensure that our waste streams are working properly and efficiently. Other responsibilities for the Specialty Recycling Intern include negotiating with our current or potential vendors, tracking and reporting weights and shipments, and working with parties interested in starting new recycling streams to determine feasibility and logistics. They also serve as a leader for on-call recycling workers when needed.
Job Requirements Required Skills & Qualifications: - Likes to be active and work with hands - Able to carry 30 pounds and comfortable walking around campus - Comfortable with calling vendors or other departments at Tufts Outgoing, with good negotiating skills - Good campus knowledge - Attention to detail - Reliable, with good time management skills - Good communication skills - Interest in recycling and sustainability - Friendly and able to take initiative Preferred Skills & Qualifications: - Knowledge of sustainability efforts at Tufts - Good research skills
